Rains are the most beautiful part of our ecosystem. Rain has healing powers and it can wash away your worries. I have seen people smiling and enjoying the rain. The most beautiful thing about rain is the smell of the wet mud. The aroma of the first rain is something different. It rejuvenates us.
India is a country that largely depends upon Monsoon rains. People eagerly waits for the monsoon showers to hit the subcontinent. Rainy season in India generally starts in the end of June. The period between April and mid June is so intolerable as it heats up the Indian land too much, temperature rises up to 50 degree Celsius. People start craving for rain and when it does Rain, I can't tell you the amount of joy and happiness that people have on their faces.
Rain comes with self healing powers. It is joyful because it freshen us and makes our mood better. Hills and mountains are the best places where one could go and enjoy with friends and family. Clouds come down, touches the peak of mountains and provides cool and top-notch amusement, joyride, gratification and relish. We can do many things during a rainy season such as going to a roadside food stall to have Samosas, Pakodas and Jalebis, Hot food and its aroma induces more hunger inside us and we try to grab as much of the hot snacks as we can.
I love Rain because of the beautiful memories that are associated with it but at the same time rains can also be very impractical and purposeless. I used to live in a small city and there we used to enjoy rains as I have mentioned above but on shifting to a metropolitan city like New Delhi, I had also seen the other side of rains.
Rains come with detrimental and damaging effects. Heavy rains are cause of destruction as water logging in the cities results in traffic jams, potholes, accidents, etc. Traffic jams in cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore is a very serious issue during heavy rains. People stuck for hours in traffic and then reach late to offices, school and other working places.
There is a strong need that our government comes in action and build roads that doesn't break easily in the rainy season as broken roads are natural speed breakers to the moving traffic. The government also needs to build smart traffic signalling system that adjusts itself automatically according to the traffic demands. The underground sewer system must be changed and bigger drainage pipes should be installed. Proper methods and approaches should be initiated to resettle the still water to underground such that our underground water resources replenishes.
